GitHub has officially deprecated its Azure endpoint for model inference, marking a strategic shift toward its newly introduced GitHub Models API. The transition, announced on July 17, 2025, requires users to migrate by October 17 to avoid service disruptions.

The new API, launched in May 2025, offers enterprise-grade features, including enhanced billing and support, accessible via models.github.ai. GitHub emphasizes the urgency of adoption, framing the change as critical for accessing future updates and maintaining operational continuity.
